.......I'm fed up to the back teeth of it now.
I'm getting grumpy and I'm getting stir crazy. Yes, I love looking out of the window onto such a pretty scene, but I can't go anywhere. I dug my car out just to try and keep on top of things, but it would be foolhardy to attempt to go down the hill in a little ford KA. I will go for a walk in a while to clear out the cobwebs, but oh I wish it would thaw. Tomorrow if it is no better I will have to take public transport to where I need to go, which I don't mind, but it is very very expensive around here (yeah, go figure) and involves that many changes and things that it will drive me mad. It is almost tempting me to walk the 6 miles that I need to travel.
Well, complaint over. It really is very pretty!
I know what you mean. Yesterday I was going stir crazy (where does that expression come from?) so we went for the walk around our inner village (around a mile or so) with us both on the road as it was safer than the paths.
ReplyDeleteTell me about it. In Poland we have snow every year, but this year it's more of it than usual. And there's even more come...!
ReplyDeleteDriving me nuts as well. I'm just off to the mobile library, which is parked all of two minutes walk away. At least it gets me out, ha ha. Shovelled the snow off the driveway this morning, but hey, it's snowing again. As you say, best to keep on top of the job.
ReplyDeleteWe managed to get out to Ledbury - our lane was a bit hairy but main road was nice and clear. More snow on way though, apparently!
ReplyDeleteSnow! What snow? there's just a sprinkling here between Fleetwood and Blackpool:(
ReplyDeleteCarolx
It is pretty (we're having just as much here, plus ice) and for the garden, it is the poor man's manure (old saying). And in January, month of snow is month of goods. (it doesn't rhyme in English...)
ReplyDeleteGood luck anyway !
We even had some in my little bit of Lancashire overnight, and it's snowed most of the day too. Fortunately the roads were ok, even though I scraped a couple of inches depth off the car, so I popped to the post office and had a quick visit to my Mum to make sure she was okay. Good luck with your trek tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean. I just looked up the train fare, one days travel is equivalent to 3 journeys using petrol. I know there are extra costs in addition to fuel to run a car but still.
ReplyDeleteMake a list of stupid, horrible jobs you have to do inside the house. Organise the tax file. Make an inventory of something, maybe inherited silverware. Move things about in the attic. Revise your will. Bake a supply of something for the freezer. Use Skype to talk to friends. It is not just being inside that is annoying, it is the monotony as well. There are thousands of people who live in confined spaces for many months every year. You are actually lucky.
ReplyDeleteI am also sending you some tropical monsoon weather from my place.
My road is like a death trap - the pavement is just a sheet of ice! The Boyfriend said that he wouldn't let me fall over - the only time I actually DID fall over was trying to keep him upright!!
ReplyDeleteI guess most of you are used to snow, but I have a tip for those who aren't: make sure you get it off your car before it freezes into a big lump!
My village has no shop and no buses, so I try to keep a fair stock of essentials in case of weather like this. UHT skimmed milk is essential as I can't live without my cuppa tea; enough flour for several loaves, pasta, rice, frozen veg and meat, sack of dog food, and I reckon the contents of cupboards and freezer would keep me fed for weeks! So I just don't go out when its icy underfoot. Watch Jeremy Kyle!! Lol, lol.
ReplyDeleteSorry! Great time to practice baking! And order seeds! Stay warm, and dream of Spring and before you know it, it will be melting. :-)
