From tiny seeds.....

All the seeds that I sowed at the beginning of February have germinated and are beginning to reach for the sky, some faster than others. In a week or two I will start the second lot of seeds to germinate.

Meanwhile, this is what I have got:

Lobelia, Crystal Palace variety (you can just see my greenhouse in the background there)

Some leeks, only just appearing.

One tray of sweet peas, standing tall and even like a regiment.

Half of this tray is filled with delphinium, pacific giants and the other half with sweet william.

Some more sweet peas, in pots this time.

This next week will see me starting tomatoes and cucumbers, squash and yet more flowers, among other things.

  1. You're doing well there - I haven't even thought about sorting my seeds out yet let alone sowing some - just a tip - if you pinch out the top 2 leaves on your sweet peas it will make them grow into bushier plants xx

    1. Yes, my dad told me that too, I just wasn't sure when to pinch them out!

  2. Here in Norfolk, I don't start seed sowing until the middle of March - it is painful waiting for that to happen. Used to sow in February but kept losing them to the frost. To cheer myself up, I've sown some cress seeds in a margarine tub.

    1. I hope that I don't lose any to frost, I won't put them out until May though. Now of course I have a greenhouse which will be a good stop gap.

    1. I hope I wasn't too early, but they won't go out until the frosts have finished.

  9. Oh man, if you have that many seedlings up in the North, then it MUST be planting time down here in Brizzle! YAAAAAAAY!

My lab mate has an allotment and wants to share the space with the rest of us! We're going digging next weekend! :)

I will definitely run out of windowsill if I don't start soon!

    1. Well I am just going on the fact that in the past I have had quite a slow germination rate up here and my plants have ended up being well behind everyone elses, that's my theory anyway. I will start some tomatoes off in a weeks time. Well done on the allotment, that is fantastic news for you.
