It is funny isn't it, but as I drove in my car this morning (I did a careful 30 because there is still tons of snow and ice) it never ceases to amaze me that there are people out there pushing you to go faster, even in weather like this. 30 was the speed limit so it wasn't like I was totally dawdling like a maiden aunt, but really, to have someone driving right up to my bumper, lights blazing, in this weather, just makes me cross enough to want to slow down to 20 just to really p him off.
So I did :-)
Glad you managed to get out :) Mild & sunny here in Lancaster, too.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about the 'tail-gaters', they make me sooooo angry, so I slow right down also. They soon get the message!
I used to own a car that you had to flip a switch to turn on the reverse lights. Oh What Fun. Especially when being tailgated on the motorway, because the instinctive reaction of the idiot driver is to brake, loooong before their brain catches up to realise you're still moving forward. I've been super maidenly aunt in my driving too today. Rather be late than dead I say!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am tail-gated it makes my foot fall off of the accellerator...oh deary me..now I'm going slower..whoops
ReplyDeleteSeriously! Why do people do that? Get yourself a land rover then you will see them give you a wide berth!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteDB does that too and I have now started doing it. I hate it especially when like you say, you are driving at the speed limit.
ReplyDeleteWell done, I do that also and sometimes I put the hazard lights on for a few seconds, and repeat if needs be. Then of course there is the defunct headlight brigade, they seem to think that it is fine to drive with one full beam and one side light. I met one yesterday who had one full beam and fog lights.
ReplyDeleteI have had pedestrians just stepping out willy nilly, as if the road conditions arent bad enough !!!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad taught me to turn my lights on and off, looked as if I was braking, that works too.
ReplyDeleteOoh I hate this too! Love the tip about turning lights on and off, will try that next time some loon is behind me wanting to break the sound barrier!!
ReplyDeleteI do that too! I also tap the brakes, slow down, speed up etc. so they think you're really erratic and back off! (OK, it wouldn't work in snow, but it works really well usually!).
ReplyDeleteI hate the way people flash their lights at me when I'm overtaking someone doing 70 on the motorway. I am NOT going to speed up just to please you, Mr. Audi! (Because it's ALWAYS an Audi!)
It always IS an Audi I agree! The new "Mondeo Man" isn't it?
DeleteGlad I am not the only one, when someone tailgates me I too go slower, makes me laugh that people don't like it when I kep to the speed limit
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get out and about! We do a round trip of 200 km once a week to get to work, with a lot of the drive on country roads where the speed limit is 100k. That doesn't suit some people who like to sit right on your tail and overtake where I wouldn't dream of overtaking. I'm quite cautious when it comes to overtaking and need to feel that I have plenty of room to do so. Understandable how accidents happen because people are too impatient and stupid!
ReplyDeleteJudy xx
LOL! Well played sir!
ReplyDeleteNever speed up for anyone else and always drive in lane one, much safer as you always have an escape route on the hard shoulder. If we all went at the speed limit and didn't keep swapping lane there would be no accidents!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and arrive alive!

It's unbelievable isn't it ? why do people put their own and others lives in danger ? I've known people absolutely fly past me in thick fog !
ReplyDeleteWhen that happens to me I do have a desperate urge to brake hard!!! :)
