Bank holiday weekend

Today I will go home for 3 nights, hooray. I couldn't afford the train, which is a shame, but I hate the way that the ticket price system takes away any chance of spontaneity. When I found out that I was free the tickets were already all up at £75, so was just not going to happen.
So I am getting the megabus this evening, which has cost me £10 (one way), can't say fairer than that. It takes an extra 2 hours, but saves a lot.

I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to it. This month, I have been well looked after by very good friends, but as they say, home is where the heart is.

It is supposed to be raining all weekend, so not much will happen in the garden it seems, but I will photograph what has been going on and share the results of my March labours (if there are any results).

Also I will see the puppies. :-)

  3. Ah the puppies, they'll be huge by now but just as daft, enjoy them. At least the wet weather will mean the weeds can be pulled by hand a lot more easily than when dry! Enjoy yourself.

  4. Well done with the bus over the train, it may take a bit longer but if you can snooze on the bus the journey will soon be over and you will have a couple of days at home.

Looking forward to seeing the piccy's of whats been happening in your garden whilst you have been away. Hope you maybe get a small window in the rain to do something out in the garden.

We are just off to put our brassicas in, we will have to net and cover them against the birds and a late frost.

  6. Hi that is a big saving. I know hubby has to work in London sometimes and he always says he hates the commute and being jammed on a train. He is always relieved to get home its pretty quiet round where we live. Have a lovely weekend at home and recharge x

  8. You have the right attitude! Yay for you getting to go home, even if briefly. Can't wait to hear all about things! Take lots of pictures. You know I'm at the farmhouse/property every weekend, but I take lots of photos of different things each weekend and then use them for various posts throughout the upcoming weeks. So just remember you can bring the photos back and then that will give you something to blog about and while helping you daydream about your home. Enjoy your quality time! :-)

  10. I was in London this week to visit some friends. Luckily a friend from home came up the day before I was meant to return, because all the train tickets had completely sold out because of the bank holiday!! Managed to catch a lift home with my friend instead!

Train tickets are ridiculously expensive now. I've used the train pretty extensively over the past five years visiting The Boyfriend in Nottingham whilst we were both at Uni, but the tickets seem to have almost doubled in cost! Even for one person, it is often cheaper to drive. Sort of negates the point of public transport, except the environmental side of things.

I love getting the train - takes the stress out of travel as you don't have to fight with crazy people on the motorways, but if the prices go up any more I don't see the rail service lasting much longer!

  11. Just to be home, even if all you can do is drink tea and gaze out the window! Hoping you'll have breaks in the rain to get out and wander about! And PUPPIES, too! Life is good!
