Thank you to Mum and Frugal in norfolk for nominating me for a 'Versatile Blogger Award'. It is always a pleasure to know that people enjoy my blog.
Here are the rules of the prize.
1. Thank the person who gave you this award.
2. Include a link to their blog.
3. Select blogs/bloggers that you've recently discovered and nominate them for this award.
4. Finally tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.
I'm supposed to nominate new (to me) blogs that I find interesting and so I have chosen the following.
1 Two men and a little farm My top choice. I love this blog, always interesting and it kind of mirrors what I am attempting a little bit.
2.Mi Esquimal esta lleno de vino
3. A Journey to a Dream
4. The Frugal Graduate
7 things about me:
1. I studied piano and singing at the Royal Academy of Music and for the last 15 years since I have been a professional opera singer.
2. I love detective stories and series. Give me an Agatha Christie and I am happy for hours. Even much maligned series like Rosemary and Thyme hit the spot.
3. I read and re-read books all the time and if I had to name one indulgence it would be books. I can't get enough.
4. I have a slight phobia of crowds. (guess it partly explains my move from London)
5. My sister's nickname for me is Lambie (don't ask why)
6. I had a near death experience, twice.
7. I have only been able to drive since I was 35, three years ago.
Your facts are far more interesting than mine! I was a late learner driver too.
ReplyDeleteI have only just discovered your blog today, Dan, and have spent a pleasant evening reading all of your enjoyable (and informative) posts. It was like reading a novel: Oh, will he sell his flat? *angst* Will the buyer come back? *nail biter* She did - YAY! Will the cottage deal go through smoothly? When will we see pics? He's got the keys - oh happy day. LOL Well done! Your frugal efforts have paid off and more than a location change, a lifestyle change for you. Not only a new home, but friendly neighbors as well. I'm looking forward to reading more. Cheers! :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you Kris, and welcome here. I am delighted you enjoyed it all so much. Today I will be working on my kitchen, trying to make it habitable and a much more interesting place to be. Hopefully be posting the pics soon.
Deletenice to find out more about you... the opera bit sounds facinating.... where do you peform? habe you a base or "audition" for parts around the country?
DeleteHi John, I am freelance and actually I am not really all that popular in UK ;-) most of my work is in France in general. I am singing at the London South Bank in May, but then I am off on tour in France throughout the Summer. Not sure how long I will keep on going with it though, now that I have moved I think that it may be the beginning of the end and I will move into a different area of music most probably. After all, touring is the reason why I have not yet owned a dog. Big sacrifice that one and the dog may win!
DeleteThanks so much for the nomination! :) I'm glad to have found your blog recently too. I'm trying to become a lot more self-sufficient too. Still learning a lot though. :)
ReplyDeleteDan, thanks so much and sorry it's taken me ages to reply! I really appreciate it :) your no. 4 made me laugh, how did you survive the london underground??? also fascinating about your singing, i love how people can surprise you. Since giving up traveling we have got a cat and she is worth every overseas adventure because she makes us so happy every day - get a dog!!
