I have a tree in the garden and I would like to know what it is, so anyone who knows or has any clues please tell me. Sorry some of the close ups are bad - not a good photographer!
Its a bout 9 feet and has thorns.
possibly a Berberis, is it evergreen? Could be the variety called Darwinii if it has shiny foilage like holly leaves and deep yellow flowers. Just a guess.
Wow, you may have got it in one! It is evergreen. It certainly is like the pictures of a berberis darwinii and I just picked a leaf (and got stabbed by it) and they look just like on a picture, like tiny holly leaves, shiny and sharp. I think you are right! Thank you.
And for the record, I don't think they are berries now I look more carefully, although from a distance they look like it. I think they are the buds of tiny flowers, which reinforces the berberis idea.
